Long and heavy goods into containers

How to load long, heavy goods into a container without driving inside

Your team pre-loads the goods on the SIMPLY. frame outside the container, whenever it suits. When the truck docks, the frame moves up to approx. 30 t into a standard 40 ft container in one lift, and the truck can leave about 10 minutes after you press the button.

One person operates the machine. Nobody has to go inside the container.

Three ways to get long goods into a container

Forklift inside the container

Forklifts carry or push the goods into the box, and people work in and around the container to guide them. At Dexion, profiles up to 12 metres long were picked up by two forklifts and towed into the containers. Loading usually took two hours.

Dexion before SIMPLY. · Story

Crane and open-top container

The roof comes off so a crane can lower the goods in. Open-top containers are often hard to source and cost between €600 and €1,000 more than a regular sea freight container. At Wittmann Battenfeld, two employees still had to go into the container afterwards to check the cargo, with headlamps.

SIMPLY. from outside

A forklift or crane puts the goods on the SIMPLY. frame outside the container, in good light and with space. The frame then carries the whole load into a standard box container in one lift. Nobody goes inside.

How it works

How does loading from outside the container work?

  1. Stacked and secured goods on the SIMPLY. pallet

    Pre-load the goods

Stack and secure the goods on the SIMPLY. pallet the day before, a few hours ahead, or whenever it suits. The pallet is made from normal square timber, so you can build it yourself or get it from a local supplier.

  2. SIMPLY. machine docked to a truck with a container

    Dock the truck

The truck backs up to the machine and is locked in place. The container stays on the truck the whole time.

  3. Load moving into a container on the SIMPLY. frame

    One lift

Air bellows raise the transport frame. It drives into the container, sets the load down in one lift and rolls back.

  4. Doppelmayr unloading a long steel part from a container with SIMPLY.

    Drive off, or unload

About 10 minutes after you press the button, the truck can leave. Most customers also use SIMPLY. to unload their containers.

Technical data

How long and how heavy can the load be?

There are three models for 20, 40 and 45 ft containers. The larger machines can also load smaller containers. You select the container length with a rotary switch.

Questions

More questions buyers ask

Does the container need to be modified?

No. SIMPLY. works with all conventional sea containers. You do not need open-top or specially built containers.

Does the container stay on the truck?

Yes. The truck docks to the machine with the container on it, and the container stays there during loading.

How is the container unloaded at the other end?

Usually the same way as before. The sled is pulled out with a forklift or with a chain on a ramp. If you ship many containers, a second SIMPLY. can unload them, just as easily and safely as the first one loads them.

Can a larger machine also load smaller containers?

Yes. You select the container length with a rotary switch. The most popular model is the SIMPLY. 40.

Can I lease the machine?

Yes. Leasing works through your own leasing partner, or SIMPLY. introduces you to one from its network.

Can I see it working before I buy?

Yes. You can see the machine running at a customer's site, not in a test environment.
